First Post

Here's to the first post, and why not make the first a truly Texan one. I came across this hybridized patch of bluebonnets the other day. Almost every color of the bluebonnet's palette.

The maroon Bluebonnet (better known as the "Maroonbonnet") comes from Texas A&M where researches where trying to breed all colors of the Texas flag and maroon popped out instead of red.

Over several generations of Bluebonnets mixing with Maroonbonnets, a pink variety comes out of the genetics, and all shades in between.

I snapped these pictures as soon as the sun was setting on a cloudy day.

    1. I think I caught this patch of bluebonnets in the last days of its season. Many of the maroon and pink bluebonnets had already gone to seed. But yes, better late than never!
